Further Investment at Liverpool Golf Centre to Install Power Tee and Install High Tech Class Rooms

Further expansion at Liverpool Golf Centre creates opportunity for a career in golf

Liverpool Golf Centre & Driving Range is expanding following investment totalling £200k.

Part of the investment has been used to overhaul the entire upstairs of the golf centre as part of a joint venture with Elite Sports Academy which offer training to 16-18 year olds who want to pursue a sports career. The investment has been used to install two high-tech classrooms fitted out with the latest technology smart boards and computer systems to enable students to continue with higher education whilst training for a career in golf.

Further investment has been made to install Power Tee, an automated ball teeing system within the driving range section of the Centre. Liverpool Golf Centre is based in Netherley and boasts a 34 bay driving range, short game area, mini golf, a teaching academy including two PGA pros and two state-of-the-art teaching bays, café and golf shop.

Liverpool Golf Centre was taken over by the Maher family – brothers Keith and Ian and Ian’s son Adam - in the summer of 2013 and since then a total of £370k has been invested to completely transform what was a run-down driving range into a first-class golf facility.

Liverpool Golf Centre’s manager Adam Maher said: ““Liverpool Golf Centre already attracts customers from all over the North West and beyond. Power Tee is widely recognised across the world as the leading automated ball teeing system and this latest investment will help establish our reputation as one of the leading golf facilities in the region.

“It has always been our focus to create a facility for golfers of all ages, backgrounds and ability. We formed our partnership with Elite last year to provide an opportunity for local youngsters who are interested in a career in golf and already have a couple of students training here. We wanted to add to that by adding facilities here so that students can continue specialised education on the same site as their sports training rather than having to go to a separate college.

“Elite now have around 25 students from Year 12 and 13 signed up to start here next year which is fantastic.

“We already run lots of courses aimed at getting kids and young people into golf so this is a great fit with what we are trying to do here. Hopefully we will get some of our young players coming through and will be able to offer them the opportunity to turn their hobby into a career.

Dennis Wright, director of Elite Sports Academy said: “I’m delighted that we are now able to offer golf as one of our training programmes. The team at Liverpool Golf Centre are extremely passionate about getting people of all backgrounds playing golf and this course will make it more inclusive and easily accessible.”

Liverpool Golf Centre has recently created three new jobs taking total staff figures to 12. Turnover this year is expected to reach around £275k.
