Learning his golf with his father at Townley Park Golf Club in Burnley, Lancashire, it was soon apparent Steve had great ability as a junior player.
As a teenager, Steve reached scratch handicap and captured the prestigious Lancashire Boys Championship and National Public Course Championship.
Excelling further and competing on the regional amateur circuit Steve reached a +1 handicap and won nearly every Northern scratch event worth winning.
His outstanding amateur record meant he represented Lancashire at the England County Finals and won a distinguished total of 15 matches of his 17 County appearances.
Progressing into the Professional ranks, combining his interest in teaching and training for his PGA Qualification, Steve finished consistently near the top of the Northern order of merit. Between 1988 and 1993 he won many of the PGA’s leading events including The North Region PGA Assistants Stroke play and Matchplay championships. He also captured the Lancashire and Cheshire Match Play Championship plus The Farnworth Thomasson Northern Professional Championship finishing 4th in the Order of Merit. Playing further afield, Steve continued to produce top ten finishes in the Challenge Tour events before embarking on a spell abroad.
Whilst working in the United Arab Emirates and funding his playing working as a Senior Professional at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club in Dubai, Steve reignited his passion for coaching. Whilst overseeing the development of the busy golf academy he still managed to win the UAE PGA Championship, various other national events and competed in the European Tour’s Dubai Desert Classic on three separate occasions.

Failed appointments and late cancellations deny other pupils valuable appointment times and the professional incurring teaching bay charges. We kindly request you give 24 hours notice for cancellations or the lesson may be chargeable or deducted from your current course or voucher.
Your purchase is a contract with the Liverpool Golf Academy instructor, we reserve the right to change tutor, lesson time and venue in the event of illness or tutor changing/leaving the venue. All expiry dates on lesson vouchers/blocks/promotions must be completed within the valid period stated at the time of purchase, the tutor reserves the right to refuse instruction outside this period.
